Day 1:
You will picked up from your hotel at 6:30 a.m. Land
transfer to Copacabana Sanctuary. You will arrive into
Copacabana after about 3 hours. Copacana is the most
important religious sanctuary of Bolivia. Thousands of
pilgrims visit the virgin of Copacabana every year. It
is also known as the Native Madonna. Later, you will
visit the main square and the impressive Cathedral (1/2
hour tour). You will arrive to the Sun Island after
about an hour of a spectacular catamaran cruise. This
island has been identified as the birthplace of several
revered entities , including the sun itself. A source of
magnetic energy , the vertex of the earth, the cradle of
the Incan Empire , and the Incan couple Manco Kapac and
Mama Ocllo appeared here and founded the Sun Empire. For
the following hour and a half, you will take the Sun
Island Tour (South side) where you will visit :
-The Inca Garden: The island micro climate provides the
ideal location for this garden that during Inca times
was full of Andean flowers, water and trees. It was the
Inca retreat.
-The Inca Stairs: The Inca Steps were built by the Incas
in order to reach the Inca Water spring.
-The Inca water spring: A natural water spring with 3
different openings of different tastes. This water
fountain was constructed by the Incas and is supposed to
be a source of eternal youth.
-The Sun Island Inti Wata Complex: This contains the
largest amount of archaeological items founded in the
island and the largest demo variety of Andean flora and
fauna available in Bolivia. Sun Island North side Land
Tour (2 hours):
-Challapampa native village and Museum: The most
isolated and unspoiled village in the Lake and the
archaeological museum that displays ancient spoons,
blades, stone tools, etc.
-Chinkana Inca Holy Temple: The island's most
spectacular ruins complex. The main feature is the Inca
Palace also known as "El Laberinto". This maze of stone
walls and tiny doorways overlooks a lovely white beach
lapped by deep blue waters.
-Sailing on a typical native fishing boat: These wooden
boats are basically used for net-fishing. They carry
about 6 people and the native captain rows or sails if
it is possible. This is dependent upon on the weather
conditions.
-The Sun Island Kallawaya Ancient Ceremony: Witchcraft,
natural medicine, art, magic, and millenary traditions
are part of the mystic world of the Kallawayas heritage.
The purpose of this mystic ceremony is to purify the
souls of the Chinkana holy temple visitors. This
Ceremony take place in an Incan altar at the top of the
hill facing the temple and overlooking the lake. Dinner
and Sun Island native's folkloric demonstration on board.
Catamaran or Sun Island overnight. (L, D)
Day 2:
Next morning, Catamaran Cruise to Copacabana admiring
the
overwhelming panorama. At the sanctuary free time to
enjoy several religious
and archaeological sites, lunch and land transfer to
Puno city.
We will arrive in Puno at 5:30 pm and that will be the
end of the service.
